LOTS OF MUNNY

I know it's been a while, but what better way to jump back in with some custom MUNNY action!
I've been living in Ottawa for a little over a year now and yet I haven't posted anything exciting on my poor blog.
Ottawa is great! When I first took a stroll around the market I came across an awesome store "Lost Marbles". The have a huge variety of custom designer toys that are pretty pricey, but are so awesome that it's worth every penny! One thing that caught my eye were the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) MUNNYs. I decided to pick one up and try out something fancy. As i was purchasing the figure I was informed that there was a Custom MUNNY show coming up where artists alike display their MUNNYs to the public. Nothing too fancy, just a nice gathering of talent and like minded individuals. I signed myself up and went to work.

This is a blank, untouched MUNNY.

This little guy is my 2009 entry, Sergeant Cuddles...

After last year's show I regretted not taking pictures of the steps I took to create Sgt. Cuddles. The pic above was the beginning of Frankenwood. I chopped off the top of his head and inserted a brain (made out of clay).

Next, I did a little carving. The toy is made out of a hard vinyl, so heating it up with a blow dryer makes it incredibly easy to manipulate.

First coat of acrylic paint.

And viola! Frankenwood is born!

I knew this was going to happen. It's always the same with me when it comes to doing something for myself. Right when I think I have finished my website, I'll go and add 1 little thing that instantly multiplies into 50 little things and now my site looks like this. Maybe it's that I'm bored so I keep finding something to change, I don't know.

I like it, but this madness to stop!
Still working on the text, so the site will be down for a bit.

Nothing new and/or exciting with me this week. I have been working on something at work that should be pretty cool when it's finished. Cool as in 'everyone in this town will see it every-freakin-day for the next 3 years'... hahaha, that is of course if it gets finished. Hopefully I'll be able to post it next week...maybe.

Since i can't leave with out posting something at least a little bit interesting, here is a fancy pic I made over my lunch break.

Well it's that time again!
My new website is up... kind of.... It's still missing some stuff, like the "about" section and contact info, but i'll get to that later.
I have been working on this to the point where i have no idea if the design is finished or not, and if i didn't force myself to stop I would probably still be designing it.
Anyways, let me know what you think. Is the whole "Playing Card" theme working? Or is it too much?

CTRL ME

It's started as a simple Facebook status "Ryan will CTRL + Z your face!". Which, if you've ever used any program on a computer you'll know it means "UNDO". Anyways, i started thinking what other shortcuts could be turned into little sayings. So i created all of these. I don't doubt that this already exists out there somewhere, i just thought it was neat.

Not much to talk about... have a couple projects to post.

Screen shot of a site i designed/developed for a friend. The site is about 95% complete, just need to fill it with updated content. I'll post the link when it's complete!

Also, since i have had some spare time on my hands i have been able to jump back onto this "witch" poster. Not sure what's going to happen with it. I don't think I'm too happy with how it's turning out... Then again, I think that I just need to devote some time to it.

Long time no blog...
I have had too many things to do the last month to the point where it felt nothing was getting done. This was kinda my fault for giving myself too many new tasks... heh... I bit off way more than i could chew.
However, one by one, everything is being cleared from my plate.

Here's one of the projects i have been working on. It's not completely finished , but it's definitely presentable. Let me know what you think.

Too many things on the go, way too many... I decided to change the look of this blog to show off some CSS skills, but that's gonna take some time (this new look now is just temporary) . On top of work, i have a poster that I'm in the middle of making for the hell of it and a website I'm doing for a friend. Anyways, thought I would just drop by and say what's goin on.

Every once in a while I like to chill out and game. Latley i have been getting ripped apart on XBL by hordes of zombies. It's quite fun, and i recommend it to everyone!

Also, here's a quick doodle i did in illustrator... just so i can say I haven't been doing nothing...

I think im gonna try to make a retro movie poster out of it. But, that may change.

I've been fine tuning the drawing for this project while thinking of a good title. Still don't have a title, but i thought I'd share the updated drawing. I must say that it's a pretty big improvement compared to the original one i came up with... still needs work though...

So, I'm sorry for the lack of posting lately. I've been working my ass off developing a website (which i'll post when everything is finished!), so that's exciting... i don't usually do the whole developing side of things. I suppose this is a good thing, people like to see designers who can also build websites...right?
Anyways, I also have another website on the go during my free time, so my personal projects have been side aside for a bit.

Well, I gotta take a little break from posting random works. I have some other side projects to do and they are going to eat up most of my free time. But, on the plus side I've been thinking about what I'm going to do next, and I'm pretty psyched (...did i just use the word psyched?).

I've been thinking of what to do next...

I can't draw, i doodle. I was messing around drawing ridiculous/unrecognizable shapes when i came up with this.

Just taking a relaxing jog around the block.

Still not knowing what i was going to do with this doodle of myself, I brought it into Illustrator. After quickly tracing over it with the pen tool, and adding some "nonsense" to it i ended up with this.

I haven't moved to the next step yet, i will shortly. Hopefully I'll have another rough up sometime this week or next.

Well i haven't been able to mess around too much with this today (too much actual work). But i was able to come up with this. Think im gonna go at it again tonight.

Good question.
The purpose of this blog is to keep me motivated to produce more and more random geeky art/designs. Wether they're good or bad, It's fun, it's work, it's what i wanna do for the rest of my life.
I spend alot of time watching TV, playing video games, and other non-productive activities. Slowly I'm trying to break away from this... laziness...(isn't the right word, but it's the first word that comes to mind), and do something interesting. So, I hope you enjoy what i post and please feedback is greatly appreciated. Also, if you have stumbled across this blog and noticed that i haven't posted anything lately, please kick my ass.
